5,000 years into the future, the Earth we know is unrecognizable. Forests whisper in forgotten dialects. Machines sing lullabies to the wind. Aliens dance in slow, spiralling rhythms. Welcome to New Earth Bandits 2, a wildly original, outdoor theatrical experience where possible futures unfold all around you.

Audiences roam Macaulay Point Park from 3-7pm and encounter live music, puppetry, dance, and interactive workshops from artists including Hank Pine, Tony Adams, Boss Saint B, Kathleen O’Reilly, Loreto Espinoza and Alectoria Productions.

On a grassy knoll, the audience gathers. A clown emerges from below a large blue swath of fabric … the bird pond and coaxes a flock of wild bird-like creatures to enter with dedicated theme music. With help form the audience and a box of treats, the water begins to ripple. The flock begins to dance. The dance becomes more elaborate, more complex, more absurd as the birds play for Triscuit treats.

Time travel 5000 years into the future to a new civilization. Roam the tunnels, cliffs and battlements of Macaulay Point Park in a choose-your-own-adventure renegade outdoor spectacle. “Hilarious, invigorating, fresh, daring!” Rain or Shine!

A dark and whimsical junk-art puppetry installation reflecting on the cycles of life and death.  From a distance, a suitcase-laden bicycle approaches, piloted by puppeteers, musicians, and clowns. The suitcases open up to reveal little homemade worlds, and the puppet show begins.

Daughters of the now-defunct Merkin Empire, these formerly-famous sisters leave the house for the first time in a decade as they risk everything to present their Ultimate Work of Art.  A mash-up of uncensored comedy, theatre, dance and puppetry, The Merkin Sisters is a vivacious romp sending up our inner caveman and our ultra-queens, smothered with the unique flavour of absurdity that comes from siblings surviving childhood together.

Experience compressed history – four decades of standing ovations, stage fright, and singing in public for the first time – at a walk-through gallery and shadow puppetry performance celebrating the past 40 years of prison theatre.  Documented in photos, posters, crew T-shirts, news articles, costume pieces and handcrafted giant puppets—these artifacts of prison theatre history decorate four hallways of the gallery tour, one hallway for each decade, starting in the 1980s up to present day. 

Canada’s first podcast series, Dark Traveller. The podcast consists of 3 episodes; each is approximately 40 minutes. It features the team performing the radio play The Northern Lights, a science-fiction radio play initially written in 1949 by Wyllis Cooper, behind the scenes interviews with the incarcerated artists about the process of creating the podcast and an original sequel inspired by the old radio show, and a mix of creative writing inspired by the Northern Lights themes & workshops.

Outsider Kitt is in 9th grade and she’s found a worthy partner in a socially anxious boy named Jane. During a school assembly on salmon, the two hijack the auditorium. They face death at the end of the hour and want pass on some crucial advice about surviving the pending apocalypse. For Adults & Youth Age 10 +

A short and sweet piece of speculative fiction, a quick glance into an alternate reality, a small skip into the future. SNAFU Artists collaborate in designing a “Possible Future”. This short performance is heavily inspired by the space that we choose to perform. It’s wholly atmospheric with an emphasis on a design using recycled materials and obsolete technology. Surreal, hand-crafted puppets merge with the natural environment.

All business, all the time. A convergence of very, very important people, who have calls to make, deals to break, and to bills to drake.

A fierce lone geriatric astronaut is adrift in a spaceship carrying cryogenically frozen ​human cargo. Her mission: protect the last of humankind. 

Eleven-year-old Kitt is troubled by a recurring dream. With no adults left in her world she can trust, she places an ad on Craigslist inviting a group of strangers into her subconscious dreamscape to help fight her darkest battle.

It is 2019, and we enter a run-down Kansas Avenue on the tipping point of Renoviction. Through the shades of grey we get glimpses of the technicolor hopes and memories of this neighborhood’s long-standing inhabitants.  We meet Toto coming home after a long time away, a curmudgeonly Tin Man, and Scarecrow, who is afraid of his own potential. Auntie Em runs a cafe on Kansas Ave, which serves as a neutral zone for the Lions and Flying Monkeys.  In this dramatic comedy with live music and hip-hop, we uncover what home means to a community trying to find balance on unsteady ground.

The madcap action-adventures of a Canadian James Bond who is also a substitute teacher.  Cool substitute teacher Chase Breyer is sent to find a fellow missing Canadian spy, only to find out that Canada is in serious danger!  

The Crossroads: A Prison Cabaret tells a story of a world underground where banished souls from the ages are trapped deep under the crossroads outside of town.  They are kept entertained by a host of supernatural beings until they can find the key to their entrapment.

Calling Home is a new documentary play about Canadian military families separated during deployments to Afghanistan.  The show brings to life the heartbreaking, relatable, and even hilarious experiences of families trying to keep a sense of connection alive across time zones.

Renegade outdoor dance theatre.  High society tea crumbles into a display of primal instincts as nine women, painted an eerie chalk white, unravel their raw intuition.  Pretty Little Instincts premiered at the Victoria Fringe and toured to Fort York for the SummerWorks Festival National Series in Toronto 2010.

Table Top Tales is an adventure in storytelling, puppetry, and music. Join us as we share stories of family and friends, and the adventures and challenges of growing up. Parents and children will be invited to tell a story from their family lore: funny stories, scary stories, embarrassing stories, silly stories, heart-warming stories, even sad stories.
