Show description

Time travel 5000 years into the future to a new civilization. Roam the tunnels, cliffs and battlements of Macaulay Point Park in a choose-your-own-adventure renegade outdoor spectacle. Rain or Shine!

Once we unleash the audience on the park, they’re free to roam wherever and follow whichever characters or storylines they choose. You can interact, play, or simply observe - nothing is forced, all engagement is by consent and invitation. The park always remains open to the public and we have great relationships with local dog walkers (and local dogs.)

Audiences see everyday spaces in their city transformed into wild and weird worlds of possible futures. The concrete tunnels of an old battlement site will transform into intimate theatrical spaces for secrets to unfold and be passed from human to human.

  • VENUE
    Macaulay Point Park
Free Parking at Fleming Beach Boat Launch,  1101 Munro Street. Then walk up to the park entrance gate at  304 Clifton Terrace, (7 min walk.)
Macaulay Point Park is the perfect venue: as an old battlement site, it has moss-covered concrete trenches, wheelchair-accessible trails, and sunset views of the ocean.

    ACCESS
    Wheelchair accessible, dirt trails.

    RATING
PG. Themes of death, loud sounds, surprises.

    DURATION: 90 mins
    (Experience culminates at sunset.)

    COSTUMES
This isn't LARPing... but it's LARP adjacent. We wanna see costumes! Come dressed as a crow or your favourite animal.

    WEATHER
The show will happen come RAIN OR SHINE! It gets windy by the ocean, so dress for all weather and wear comfortable shoes for walking the trails. The temperature drops quickly. Bring layers!

    GETTING THERE
Macaulay Point Park is 5km from Downtown Victoria. It’s a 10-minute drive by car and 20-25 minutes by bus or bike. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the experience begins.

    WASHROOM
The washroom is in the parking lot at 1101 Munro Street. It's a 10-minute walk from the main performance site, so we recommend using the washroom before you come to the gate. If you need to use the washroom during the show, you are welcome to leave and come back. Treat the show like an easy hike.
Washroom is quite large but too small to fit mobility scooters. See venue visual story below for more access details.

  • SNAFU targets audiences who do not normally go to see live theatre.  We do this by creating work WITH communities (instead of staging established plays), by creating bold spectacles, and by performing in accessible public spaces where anyone can walk by and discover us.

We harness the ‘live-ness’ of live performance to make each night an unforgettable and un-recreate-able experience. This event appeals to audiences who have trouble sitting quietly in a dark theatre.

SNAFU teams up with Sadie from Sustainable Fox as a performer and waste reduction consultant to create hilarious interactions with audience members, teaching the public about recycling and waste-reduction.
